Academy of Engineering & Green Technology at Hartford Public High School
Principal: Michael Maziarz
The Academy offers rigorous coursework with a focus on math, science and English as part of its theme-based curriculum drawn from two national programs; Project Lead the Way and the National Academy Foundation. Students learn how science and math are used to design and construct the equipment, structures and power/energy sources that impact our world. Students work with local companies for on-site learning opportunities which may include visiting high-tech companies, listening to speakers and internships.
Understanding the Choices
Probably the most important thing to understand about school choice in Hartford is that all the participating schools are public schools: they are tuition-free, with open enrollment. Each may have a different application process, themes, or different titles (such as “magnet school” or “community school”), but they are all public schools.
